The facility has since its opening in January 2011, generated interest not just from the United States but the UK, where enquires have been received and appointments are being booked to view the facility. The Montego Bay Convention Centre is being marketed by the world renowned convention group SMG. This relationship with SMG is expected to quickly establish the Montego Bay Convention Centre as an attractive and viable option in the convention's market.

The location in Rose Hall, in proximity to major hotels with a total of 4794 8 rooms - Wyndham Rose Hall Resort (487 rooms), Half Moon Golf Tennis and Beach Club (419 rooms), The Ritz Carlton Rose Hall (430 rooms), Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort (524 rooms), Sunset Beach Resort and Spa (420 rooms), the Riu (856), Gran Bahia Principe (680) and Iberostar (978) - make the location an attractive one, as the availability of hotel rooms is a critical component to the convention market.

The Convention Centre which is sited on 14.1 hectares (35 acres), of land, is designed as a modern, state of the art facility, capable of hosting large and small meetings, conferences, exhibitions, banquets, weddings and other events with the space allocation as follows:

Expansion Plans

Plans are afoot for the further expansion of the Centre, with concept designs already in place to  provide for  additional meeting rooms, multipurpose hall, parking facilities and amenities

Hotel Development

Complementing the Convention Centre are plans for a 500 key room hotel to be located on lands adjacent to the Palmyra development  along Jamaica’s  “gold coast”.  The design will allow the flexibility for the expansion of the
hotel up to 1000 rooms.
