CONCRETE WALL FOR EFFORTVILLE COMMUNITY CENTRE

The project which is valued at over $5 million is being implemented in two phases and includes the refurbishing of the community centre, rehabilitation of the drainage system, re-construction of a perimeter fence, repairs to spectator stands and the upgrading of the football field. LIFTING UP ROCKFORT SPORTS COMPLEX

The project, which will result in the refurbishing of the caretaker’s building and the construction of sidewalks and channels, is valued at approximately $5 million. There are approximately 10,000 persons employed under the Lift Up Jamica Programme, of which 4,396 are females. NEW MARKET FOR SPALDINGS

Donald Hyman, team leader, Lift Up Jamaica discusses the project with Charles Gooden, clerk of works, while participants in the Lift Up Jamaica Programme carry out construction works at the Spaldings Market in North West Clarendon.  Lift Up Jamaica has collaborated with the Parish Council to demolish the existing market and construct a new market which will include an arcade with eleven shops, a restaurant, bathroom facilities and an open market area which will comprise a meat shop for vendors. Lift Up Jamaica has contributed $15 million towards this special project and the Parish Council has committed $5 million. The Lift Up Jamaica Programme is managed by the Urban Development Corporation (UDC).
