Handing Over of Jet Skis to Jamaica Constabulary Force (Speaking Notes)
SPEAKING NOTES - LENWORTH TRACEY, DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER (ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND CORPORATE RELATIONS)
The Urban Development Corporation is pleased to collaborate with the port authority in presenting four wave runners to the Jamaica Constabulary force today.
Our contribution of these additional jet skis, comes closely on the heels of the donation of two other jet skis in December 2010 to the JCF, for the enhanced monitoring of the Ocho Rios coastline, especially as it relates to the Dunn’s river falls and park area, managed by the UDC.
As you may be aware, Dunn’s river falls and park, a significant national asset was named the Caribbean’s leading tourist excursion for 2010.
In February 22, 2011, the JCF confirmed its request for an additional four wave runners and here we must also acknowledge the work of the port authority of Jamaica in providing funding for two (2) of the four (4) wave runners.
These wave runners were acquired through Yamaja engines limited for approximately $8,699,248.80 Jamaican dollars.
The UDC remains committed to making development happen in the various sectors especially through efforts like these.
The mission of the UDC is to fulfill our role as the nation’s main urban and rural development agency and facilitator, by effectively and efficiently assigning and managing our resources, so as to ensure the economic viability of the corporation, sustainable national development and the best quality of life for the citizens of Jamaica.
We are very pleased therefore to be associated with this event.
