| The UDC operates in areas designated by
the Minister under whose portfolio it falls (presently the Prime
Minister). In designated areas, it has planning authority and the
flexibility to design, implement and manage the comprehensive development
of these areas. |
The designated areas are:
- The Kingston Waterfront
- East Kingston and areas of West Kingston
- The Ocho Rios Waterfront, St. Ann
- Montego Bay Waterfront and Catherine Hall, St. James.
- A section of The Negril coastline (from Orange Bay to Long Bay),
Westmoreland, Hanover.
- The Hellshire Hills, St. Catherine
- The Portmore Town Centre, St. Catherine
- The Oracabessa Waterfront, St. Mary

The Corporation also undertakes projects
in other areas, as required by the Government, and has planning
responsibility for the future development of:
- The Southwest coast (incorporating parts of St. Elizabeth and
Westmoreland)
- The Northeast coast (incorporating parts of St. Mary and Portland)
- Historical locations such as Spanish Town, Port Royal, Falmouth and
Seville.
