The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) notes the concerns raised by the Ocho Rios Ministers Fraternal re the Belmont Property in Ocho Rios, St Ann and wishes to reiterate that the property referred to as Little Dunn’s River, has been secured by the Corporation to prevent the unauthorized use and to allow for its phased development.
The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is moving ahead with plans for the upgrading of the Ocho Rios Fishermen’s Village with the aim of transforming it into a premier facility for entertainment and dining. The Corporation shared concept plans for the project in a consultation session with the fisherfolk and other stakeholders on November 8, 2013 at the Anglican Church Hall, St Ann at 10:00am.
The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) recognised over 29 children of staff members who were successful in the 2013 GSAT Examination at an award function held in commemoration of the UDC’s 45th anniversary on September 20, at the Jamaica Conference Centre (JCC). Each student received a contribution of $10,000 towards their educational development.
As the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) continues to celebrate its 45th anniversary, the government’s principal urban and rural development agency hosted the 33rd Annual Hellshire Summer Fun on July 25, 2013. On this occasion, approximately 400 children from childcare and protective institutions in the corporate area were treated by the UDC to a fun filled day at the Fort Clarence Beach in Hellshire, St. Catherine.

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) remains committed to the completion of the Linstead Market Renovation Project. Work on the project which started in 2012 as part of the Jamaica 50 Legacy Projects is now nearing the end of the second phase and involved urgent structural repairs to the main market building.
The Canteen and Old Market Buildings were completed in the first phase of the renovations. To date all major structural repairs have been completed except for minor variations that were identified and are being addressed.
