They will speak on the theme Transforming Our Downtown and Urban Core: Why doing so is good for business?
The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) remains committed to the completion of the Linstead Market Renovation Project. Work on the project which started in 2012 as part of the Jamaica 50 Legacy Projects is now nearing the end of the second phase and involved urgent structural repairs to the main market building.
The Canteen and Old Market Buildings were completed in the first phase of the renovations. To date all major structural repairs have been completed except for minor variations that were identified and are being addressed.

St. Joseph’s Infant, St. Jago Cathedral Preparatory and Waterford High have emerged winners in the Urban Development Corporation’s (UDC) “2013 Hellshire Schools Enviro Competition”. The winning schools copped trophies and cash prizes valued at $25,000 each and select passes to the Biodiversity Centre at the Port Royal Marine Lab. The awards were presented at the 7th annual Hellshire Enviro Fair held at the Two Sisters Caves on Friday, May 31.
The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is collaborating with the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), through the “Mitigating the Threat of Invasive Alien Species in the Insular Caribbean” project, to host the 7th Annual Hellshire Enviro Fair. The event will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Two Sisters Caves in Hellshire, St. Catherine. The Hellshire Enviro Fair is a community outreach and environmental education activity aimed at encouraging environmental awareness and eco-friendly practices.

Green Grotto Caves is Jamaica’s first tourism attraction to achieve EarthCheck’s highest accolade of Platinum Certification. Platinum Certification recognises 10 years of continuous reporting under the EarthCheck Benchmarking and Certification Program. In recognition of Green Grotto Caves’ outstanding sustainability achievement, Fabia Lamm, manager of the attraction, was presented with a platinum plaque at an awards ceremony held Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Attraction in Discovery Bay, St. Ann.
The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) appeared before the Public Accounts Committee in Parliament (PAC) on Tuesday, March 19 to update on its progress with the implementation of recommendations from the Auditor General’s (AG) Performance audit dated November 2012. To date, more than sixty per cent of the recommendations have been implemented while work continues to complete the process.
