Press Release Clipper Yacht Race at Reach Falls

Jamaica’s hidden treasure Reach Falls located in Portland on May 22, 2014, hosted the team from Henri Lloyd – winners of Race 12 in the global sporting phenomenon Clipper 2013/2014 Round the World Yacht Race. The event has seen combined global viewership and circulation estimated at more than 470,000,000 people.

The group docked in Port Antonio on May 17 after completing the Spirit of Jamaica Chase from Panama and was the first to enter port on Saturday, May 17.

The Jamaica Tourist Board and the Port Authority of Jamaica are hosting the yachts of the 2013/2014 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race during the period May 17 – 24, 2014, at the Errol Flynn Marina in Port Antonio.

The Clipper Race is known as one of the world’s toughest endurance challenges, taking eleven months and over 40,000 miles to complete. Dubbed the ‘Race of Your Life’, this biennial yacht race is truly a unique event and this year is the biggest edition since its inception in 1996.

Over 260 crew members from more than 40 different nationalities take part in the Clipper Race on a matched fleet of 70-foot ocean-racing yachts.

Managed by the Urban Development Corporation, Reach Falls is a luxurious tropical park located approximately five miles above Manchioneal, a small fishing village to the east of Port Antonio, Portland. The attraction features a cascading waterfall, a picnic area, and a nature trail upstream the Driver’s River.

The lush greenery from the Montane Forest and the refreshing pool beneath the cascading waterfall promise a memorable experience for the crew members.

This increasingly popular attraction is open to visitors Wednesday to Sunday and on public holidays, except Good Friday and Christmas Day, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at the affordable cost of J$300 and J$150 for Jamaican residents; 12 years and over and 4-12, respectively. For non-resident visitors, the cost is US$10 for visitors over 12 years and US$5 for those aged 4-12 years.
